Residents Needed for Board Appointments

Mayor Paula Zelenko is looking for citizens interested in serving on various boards, commissions, and committees."The City is in the very early stages of developing a new master plan so having every board seat filled is important to gain participation in developing the future of the City," stated Zelenko.

Planning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals, Downtown Development Authority Board, and Parks and Recreation Commission are in need of members or alternate members.  The current applications on file are either incomplete or out dated.     

Generally speaking, these boards meet once or twice per month and require attending some training.   The Planning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals and Park and Recreation Commission currently meet in the early evening (approximately 5:30 pm for about one and one half hours) and the Downtown Development Authority Board currently meets in the morning at 8:30 am lasting about one hour.  

Interested parties should submit a letter of application indicating the board or commission they are interested, why they feel they are a good candidate, and what skills, experience, and interests they possess that would be an asset.  Resumes are welcome in addition to the letter of application but are not a requirement.    

Applications will be accepted until the seats are filled, however it is the intention of the Mayor and City Council to appoint new members as soon as possible.
