Council Announces 2020 Census Committee, Plans for Push in March

BURTON — City officials want to make a push in March to inform and get residents to participate in the 2020 U.S. Census, with a rallying cry to officially boost the city’s population to more than 30,000.

Falling short of that number by one person in the 2010 Census, Burton City Council and Mayor Duane Haskins have launched a campaign to inform residents about the Census and encourage participation.

A bump in the population above 30,000 could bring millions in government funds to the city for infrastructure and services.
